We teach our High School Biology course to offer students a solid basis for studying life and living organisms. High School Biology Course Overview
Semester 1: Foundations of Biology & Cell Biology
- Introduction to Biology: Scientific method, properties of life, biological systems.
- Cell Structure & Function: Study of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, cell organelles, and their role in maintaining life.
- Cell Processes: Cellular respiration, photosynthesis, and cell division (mitosis & meiosis).
- Genetics: Basics of inheritance, Mendel, DNA structure, transcription and translation.
- Evolution: Darwin’s theory of natural selection and the evidence in favor of evolution.
Semester 2: Advanced Topics, Human Biology & Ecology
- Ecology & Ecosystems: Ecosystems, biomes, energy flow, and environmental conservation.
- Human Anatomy & Physiology: The main body systems such as circulatory, respiratory, and digestive.
- Plant Biology: The study of plant structure, reproduction, and photosynthesis.
- Microbiology & Biotechnology: Introduction to microorganisms, viruses and genetic engineering.
- Current Biological Matters: Which of those would be current biological issues — like climate change, genetic modifications, bioethics?
